She’s a 1969 50N allungata (‘elongated’). We believe her original color was red, but we’ve still got to take her to the paintshop to make sure, not to mention to give her a much needed paint job. The N is her model, and the 50 is her cylinder size, as in 50 cc’s. As in slow: roughly 25 mph top speed to be precise. Perfect for scootering around the city in style.
Right now she’s in pieces, in the throes of a complete restoration being carried out by my fidanzato (boyfriend) and myself. I found her via a private vendor on the second-hand Italian website called www.secondamano.it. She came complete with a rusted footboard, a ton of dirt, and even a dead rodent hidden up in her front axle. But with a little (aka: a lot of) love, I’m hoping to return her to her original inately charming self. Her story will be chronicled in this blog.
